New Garrison model Fodera announced

Matt Garrison has a new signature Fodera that has been released at NAMM, and while it is not exactly an affordable, (MSRP is $5800+) every-man instrument, it does have some cool features for people who can swing that kind of cash for an instrument. Meaning..not me.

In this video, Matt and the guys from Fodera talk about the bass and explain all the features.

You do need to register at Matt's site to view the videos, but it is free.

Janek Interviews Juan - Gwizdala Interviews Alderete

Janek has an interview up with Juan Alderete bassist from Racer X, (in the olden days), Mars Volta, Big Sir, and Vato Negro. He goes through his effects, and man, does this dude have a lot of effects...

If you have heard Mars Volta you know it is hard to describe exactly what it is they sound like, and Jaun has chops for days, but usually goes for more of a textural, mood vibe.

Heavy on the gear talk in this episode, but if you are into modifying your bass sound through electronics and pedals to go for unique tones you will dig it.

Bass Whisperer Genz-Benz Review

Mr. Freidland has another installment of his Bass Whisperer gear reviews up. He always does a good job showing whatever gear he is demo-ing, and gets in some great playing.

This one is on a Genz Benz amp. These days the Class-D power supply amps are all the rage with amps that only weigh 10lbs putting out 900W of tube tone. Thankfully, the era of refrigerator sized bass amps that require you to buy new shocks for your car are gone.

While I am not a slave to gear in any way, these are very informative and well done.

Check out Ed getting his Jack Bruce and Jamerson on during the demo.
